Describe the basic features of indus saraswati civilization
The early cities of India developed along the Indus and Sarasvati rivers was the largest and most advanced civilization in the ancient world. By 2,500 BCE the Indus-Sarasvati or Harappan civilization became the largest civilization of the Ancient world. Extending over more than 386,000 square miles (1 million square kilometers) across the plains of the Indus River from the Arabian Sea to the Ganges.
Some basic features of the Civilisation were:
- The people of this civilisation were probably among the first humans to live in cities like Harappa and Mohenjodaro.
- Indus-Sarasvati Civilization artifacts such as seals, beads and pottery have been found in Mesopotamia, Oman and Bahrain, indicating trade with distant regions across both land and ocean.
- This was an advanced civilisation as they developed script, agriculture, urbanization, architecture, drainage systems and trade.
