Answer:
Yes, there is the trick to find out which compound is paramagnetic and which is diamagnetic.

Step 1: calculate the total no. of electrons in the given compound

Step 2: If the total electron count is even then that compound is diamagnetic
there are two exceptions: 10 and 16 are paramagnetic.

                                        or

If the total electron count is odd then that compound is paramagnetic.

For better understanding lets take an example:

Q. Which of the following species is not paramagnetic?
     a) CO
     b) O2
     c) B2
     d) NO

Solution:
In question, they are asked about that which species is not paramagnetic which means which species is diamagnetic, let's find out,

1) Total electrons in CO  =  14 =      even           =  diamagnetic
2) Total electrons in O2   =  16 = even = exception   =  paramagnetic
3) Total electrons in B2   =  10 = even= exception    =  paramagnetic
4) Total electrons in NO  =  15 =       odd                 =  paramagnetic

Option A CO is dimagnetic i.e. not paramagnetic.
