A ray of light incident normally on one of the faces of a prism with apex angle 30 degrees and refractive index (2)^0.5 . Find the angle if deviation.

As seen from figure, a ray incident normally on one side of prism makes incident angle 30° on other side with normal.
 
If e is angle of emergence, by law of refraction, sin(e)/sin(30) = √2  
 
sin(e) = 1/√2 or  angle e = 45°
 
Hence angle of deviation = (e-30) = (45-30) = 15°
