A prism has a refractive index ✓3/✓2 and refracting angle of 90°. Find the minimum deviation produced by the prism?

The refractive index μ of the prism is given by,  μbegin mathsize 12px style fraction numerator sin space open square brackets open parentheses A plus D subscript m close parentheses divided by 2 close square brackets over denominator sin open square brackets begin display style bevelled A over 2 end style close square brackets end fraction end style
A = refracting angle = 90º (given)
Dm = Angle of minimum deviation 
 
sin [(90+Dm)/2] = begin mathsize 12px style square root of 3 over 2 end root space cross times space sin left parenthesis 45 right parenthesis space equals fraction numerator square root of 3 over denominator 2 end fraction end style
hence  [ (90+Dm)/2 ] = sin-1(√3/2) = 60º 
 
hence angle of minimum deviation = 30º
