A force acts for 0.1  seconds on a body of mass 1.2kg initially at rest . The force then seases to act and the body moves through 2m in the next 1second . Find the magnitude of force .

1) There are two motions of the body - First when force acts for 0.1 s and second when force ceases and body moves with constant speed for 1 s.
 
2) For the second part, force ceases and speed is constant. So, v = s/t = 2/1 = 2 m/s.
 
3) Now, this is the speed with which the body attains when force ceases to act. So, the acceleration of the body in first 0.1 s is
a = (v-u)/t = (2-0)/0.1 = 20 ms-2
 
4) Therefore, the force is F = ma = 1.2 × 20 = 24 N
