  1. Archives and libraries are storehouse of knowledge. Important documents and manuscripts are preserved here. Hence, it publishes research journals, informative pamphlets, leaflets, posters from time to time.
  2. Each step like collecting the sources of history, creating their records and indexes, exhibiting manuscripts, old books and artefacts after completing necessary treatments requires very careful handling and management. It needs people with specific skills. Thus, only trained persons, who are duly qualified can take up these tasks.

1. Sthalakosh

Geographic information is essential for historical studies. These are encyclopaedias giving information about historical places. For example, 'Sthanapothi' is an encyclopaedic text, which describes all those places visited by Chakradhar Swami, the founder of Mahanubhav sect. It gives us an inkling about Maharashtra in those days.

2. Vishwakosh

It contains knowledge about all possible subjects in the world. It also contains very important entries about history. Its compilation was started by the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Yahswantrao Chavhan with a view to enhance the sphere of Marathi language and literature.

3. Samdnya Kosh

There are encyclopaedic texts explaining the terminology (for instance, colonialism, globalisation, etc.) of history. Such texts are very useful for the teachers of history

4. Saraswati Mahal Granthalay

The 'Saraswati Mahal Granthalay' is a library that was built at Thanjavur in Tamilnadu was built in 16th-17th century, during the times of Nayak dynasty. Later, the Bhosale ruler, Vyankojiraje Bhosale and his successors expanded the 'Saraswati Mahal Granthalay'. In 1918 the library was renamed as 'The Thanjavur Maharaja Sarfoji's Saraswati Mahal Library' in the honour of Sarfojiraje Bhosale.
