  1. Applied history: Applied History is a field of study in which learnings from past are applied to solve contemporary and future problems. It means that knowledge of the past can help us to find solutions to current socio-economic problems. Applied history is also known as public history.

The history of technology helps in understanding the changes and their causes in the field of agricultural production, commodity production, architecture, engineering, etc. Knowledge of science and technology was very important at every step from the making of stone tools to agricultural production in the evolution of mankind.       • For example, scientists studying earth sciences need to have complete knowledge about the history of earth and various physical processes that accompanied the formation of the earth.

      • It is important to understand the development of any art form with the help of their styles of expression.
      • Expressions in any art form can be understood with the help of cultural history

      • To understand various factors that are involved in the chain of production like means of production, human resources and processes of production, one need to know about such systems that existed in the past.
      • Also, it is important to understand the psychological character of people working in an organisation to increase production.
      • One also needs to know the history of social and economic institutions to support the industrial and commercial processes.

    • The visible and invisible relics of the past exist in the present. They represent the creative thoughts and traditions of our ancestors. It is our heritage.
    • The history of our heritage links us with our origin. Hence it becomes necessary to preserve and conserve it for future.

    • Awareness should be created among the people to strive towards preserving various sources of history.

    • Avoid vandalising of historic and public places
    • Chemicals may be applied on the required buildings to protect them from natural wearing and tearing.
  3. Objectives can be fulfilled through the heritage projects:
    • Preservation, conservation and development of heritage sites can be done without any change in its original state.
    • The local social structure and psychology of the local people, challenges they face in the present situations and their expectations can be surveyed.
    • While completing the process of conservation, preservation and development of heritage sites, precaution should be taken to avoid hurting the sentiments of the local people.
