ICSE Class 10 Answered
Why is it not advisable to keep the cells in parallel while not in use?

Expert Answer
Hi Ayan,
- Parallel connection of cells has a higher degree of current retention and transmission of current.
- This is because the total resistance in the parallel connection is reduced as compared to the algebraic sum of the resistances in the circuit.
- Therefore, the parallel combination of cells consume more time to completely turn off the current flow through them.
- That is why it is not advisable to keep the cells in parallel while not in use and it is rather advised that the parallel combination cells should be removed when not in use from the concerned electrical appliance.
Thank You!
