what do you understand by the statement"The refractive index of diamond is 2.42"?

Hi Shubhashish,

Refractive index is the ratio of speed of light in air/vacuum to that in a medium. So, if diamond has refractive index as 2.42 then it infers that the speed of light in diamond is 2.42 time slower than in air.
