In essay type questions in ICSE, what are some of the points to be kept in mind so as to score full marks ?

Hi Sumit,

The points to be remembered for essay-type questions are no different from those of other writing tasks. When you write an answer, think from the reader’s perspective. Putting oneself in the shoes of the reader will help you gain valuable insights. While attempting such questions, it is important that you spend some minutes in planning the essay. Make a short list of the points you will be including. Focus not only on the content of the essay, but also on its form. Structuring the essay will make it coherent and easy to read. Start with an introduction; use a different paragraph for each new idea and conclude the essay properly. Do not include any new ideas in the conclusion. Pay attention to spellings and grammar. If you are unsure about a word or an expression, refrain from using it. An essay with impressive vocabulary that is poorly structured will not impress anyone. But a well-structured essay, devoid of grammatical errors will cast a good impression even if it is written in a simple language.
