Hi Sumit,

For any question, essay type or otherwise, you will be judged on the same parameters:

1. Language

2. Idea

3. Structure of the answer

Language- The student is not exactly expected to use flowery language to write an answer. But he or she has to use grammatically correct language that is clear and lucid to read.

Idea- The student has to understand the gist of the question and answer it accordingly. Know exactly what the question expects from the students and cover those points. Address all the points the question puts forth.

Structure- A structured answer with a logical sequence will reflect the writers ability to be calm and composed. It shows that the writer has put in efforts to plan the answer in advance. It is sure to impress the reader.

One has to cover all major themes of the story along with its summary and character sketches. Going through past years' question papers will help you get an insight into the type of questions that are asked.
