A:

Two kinds of manures are green manure and vermicompost.

Preparation of vermicompost

  • It is formed by the decomposition of vegetable and animal wastes, domestic waste and eradicated weeds.
  • The waste matter is decomposed in pits. This process is called composting.
  • Sometimes, organic substances are decomposed by earthworms and are converted into humus. This is called vermicompost

Preparation of green manure

The growing of green manure cover crops provides additional nutrients and organic matter to the soil. When incorporated into the soil, these plants break down releasing important nutrients, such as nitrogen, that are necessary for adequate plant growth. It also increases soil drainage and water retention capabilities.
