Tangents to A Circle
Tangents to a CircleProperties of Tangents
If a point P lies inside the circle, any line passing through the point will intersect the circle at two points and therefore cannot be a tangent.
If point P lies on the circle, only one tangent can be drawn to the circle through the point of contact.
If the point P lies outside the circle, two tangents can be drawn to the circle of equal length.
The lengths of the tangents drawn from an external point to the circle are equal.
