The elementary charge, usually denoted as e, is the electric charge carried by a single proton, or equivalently, the absolute value of the electric charge carried by a single electron. This elementary charge is a fundamental physical constant. To avoid confusion over its sign, e is sometimes called the elementary positive charge. This charge has a measured value of approximately 1.6 ×10?19
 coulombs.
Charge quantization is the concept that every stable and independent object (meaning an object that can exist independently for a prolonged period of time) has a charge which is an integer multiple of the elementary charge e. Thus, e.g., a charge can be exactly 0 e, or exactly 1 e, ?1 e, 2 e, etc., but not, say, 1?2 e, or ?3.8 e, etc.

It is the property by which any charge lives only in separate collection or bundle of specific minimum charge. Positive and negative charge in the equation is denoted by q. The equation is shown below:

q=ne

n can have both negative as well as positive values. E.g. 1, 2, 3……. and -1,-2,-3,-4……..
