When a magnet is broken into two parts , the polarity of one of the parts is reversed and the two parts repel each other, how does this happen? [the magnet is not heated or hammered]

Dear student
When a magnet is broken, say in 2 pieces; each piece develops a north and a south pole. Thus, the broken pieces behave as individual magnets. Now, when the like poles come together, they repel each other.
Hope this helps.
