It is a type of cell division in which the daughte cells formed have exactly the same number of chromosomes as the parent cell

It is a type of cell division in which the number of chromosomes are reduced by half through the separation of homologous chromosomes in a diploid cell

Two daughter cells are formed at the end of mitosis.

Four daughter cellsare formed at the end of meiosis

Produces all cells of the body other than gametes.

Produces male and female gametes

The steps of mitosis are Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase and Cytokinesis

The steps of meiosis are Interphase, Prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Telophase I, Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II

Function of mitosis is to carry out cellular reproduction & general growth and repair of the body

The function of meiosis is in sexual reproduction.
