what is coefficient of restitution and how do we calculate it?
The coefficient of restitution is found by the formula
Coefficient of Restitution = speed up / speed down.
If a ball is made to fall from a particular height then, measure the height from where is falls (H) and measure the height upto which it bounce (h) and put it in the formula
v = ?(2gh)
Where v = velocity, g = 9.8m/s2, and h = average height measured (if experiment is repeated for few observations, then take average)
We took the average of the bounced height value (h) and put it in the formula along with the initial height (H).
Coefficient of Restitution = ?(2gh)) / ?(2gH) = ?(h/H)
