Keto acids are organic acids containing a ketone functional group and a carboxylic acid  group.

eg.Pyruvic acid (CH 3 COCO 2 H) is an alpha-keto acid

(α-)Hydroxy acids, or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), are a class of chemical compounds that consist of a carboxylic acid substituted with a hydroxy group(OH) on the adjacent carbon.
