Uses of Rubidium:

(i)    Rubidium can be easily ionized, and so has possible use in "ion engines" for space vehicles.

(ii)   used as a "getter" in vacuum tubes.

(iii)  Photocell component.

(iv)  used for making special glasses.

(v)   RbAg4I5 has the highest room temperature conductivity of any known ionic crystal. At ambient temperature, its conductivity is about the same as dilute sulphuric acid, suggesting uses in thin film batteries.

 Uses of Francium:

Due to its instability and rarity, there are no commercial applications for francium.

(i)     It has been used for research purposes in the fields of biology and of atomic structure.

(ii)    Its use as a potential diagnostic aid for various cancers has also been explored, but this application has been deemed impractical.

(iii)    Francium's ability to be synthesized, trapped, and cooled, along with its relatively simple atomic structure have made it the subject of specialized spectroscopy experiments.
