transverse sound waves require a solid medium having elasticity in shape to be propagated. then how do we hear such a sound (sound from strings of guitar)?

sound from strings of guitar is produced which transmits to the air column inside the hollow space of guiter or sitar and resonates to produce intense sound(forced vibration).Then it is Transmitted through the air medium as longitudinal wave to you.
