one thing i din't understand that do we have 23 pairs of chromosomes in one cell or in whole more thing i read is that "the reproductive organs produce gametes which is 1/2 the no. of chromosomes"

There are 23 pairs of chromosomes in each somatic body cell. The gametes have half the number of chromosomes than in normal body cells i.e. they possess 23 chromosomes only. The somatic body cells are diploid whereas the gametes are haploid.
