Is there any formula or anything to determine the no. of isomers that can be drawn for a given hydrocarbon?

The simple rule to draw isomers is to follow the given molecular formula and try to form all the unique carbon-carbon bonding arrangements possible with that formula. 

With these "rules" it is fairly straitforward to see that all molecules containing just six carbons and 14 hydrogens will have the following things in common:

  1. A contiguous carbon skeleton and..
  2. Hydrogens will only be bonded to carbons.
The five isomers of hexane are: hexane, 2-methylpentane, 3-methylpentane, 2,2-dimethylbutane, and 2,3-dimethylbutane.
