Since x = 2 is a zero of the polynomial

Therefore p(2) = 0

Let p(x) = x squared minus space 3 x space plus space k
Therefore p(2) = 2 squared minus space 3 space x space 2 space plus space k
                          = 4 - 6 + K
                          = -2 +k
Since p(2) = 0
Therefore      p(2) = -2+k = 0

Hence  k = 2
