HOW TO FIND SPECIFIC HEAT CAPACITY OF THE METAL?
Specific heat capacity of a substance = Heat provided/[(mass)(change in temperature)]
Heat provided = (Specific heat)(Mass)(change in temperature)
Using this we can calculate heat taken up by water,
=(4200)(0.35)(30-23) = 10290 J
Now using the first equaton, we can calculate the specific heat capacity of metal. Note that the tempreature of metal decreases from 135 °C to 30 °C.
= (10290)/[(0.2)(135-30)] = 490 J/kg °C
