For complete reaction of 50 g CaCO3. How many grams of 20% HCL is required

CaCO3 + 2HCL → CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O

1 mol       2 moles

 

20 % HCl contains 20 g HCl in 100 g water

1 mol CaCO3  = 100 g

50 g CaCO3 = 0.5 moles CaCO3

0.5 mole CaCO3 correspond to 1 mol HCl

1 mol HCl = 36.5 g HCl

20 g HCl in 100 g water

36.5 g HCl = 182.5 g H2O

Hence, 182.5 g solution of 20 % HCl is required.
