For any system to be stable,Energy should be minimum.Why?

for a systen to be stable its "Potential Energy" should be minimum.
It is so because, potential energy is (U) has a relation with force as:
F = -dU/dx
Thus for minimum, U dU/dx = 0.
and hence minimum force on the system.
