A matix is a simple array of numbers. It is just collection of some numbers
put in rows and columns. It can have 1 element, 2 element or any number
of elements inside it.

Whereas determinant is a number that is a value associated with square
matrices. A square matrix is a matrix in which number of rows is same as
number of columns. And a determinant is not a matrix, a determinant
is just a number associated with the matrix.
