In Tetracarbony nickel, coordination number of Ni is 4, so it can have either dsp2 hybridisation (square planar) or sp3 hybridisation (tetrahedral) shape. But since from magentic measurements, it shows that [Ni(CO)4] is diamagnetic in nature so it undergoes sp3 hybridisation by pairing up the electrons of 4s orbitals with the unpaired electrons of 3d orbitals. This results in sp3 hybridisation and the complex is tetrahedral structure.It forms a low spin complex.
