A car travelling with a speed of u m/s stops in a length S when a retardation "a" is given.If the speed is tripled, with the same retardation, find the length covered

v = u + at
0 = u + (-a) t
t = u/a is the time for which car travelled.
 
Now initial velocity = 3u
retardation = -a
time = u/a
 
S = ut + 1/2 at2
Distance = u (u/a) + 1/2 (-a) (u/a)2
Distance travelled  = 1/2 u a2
