CBSE Class 9 Answered
You: Nitin, a friend of mine has landed in trouble at school recently.
Nitin: What happened?
You: He is a part of the district volleyball team and often misses classes because of the practice sessions and matches. He told me yesterday that his parents and teachers are unhappy about this and have asked him to quit sports.
Nitin: That is so unfortunate!
You: He is very sad and doesn’t want to quit sports because he is about to be selected in the State Team. I wish I could do something to help him.
Nitin: Have you asked him why he is unable to attend school regularly? I mean all said and done, academics are also important, isn’t it?
You: Yes, I have asked him. He said that the volleyball matches are held on the outskirts of the city and his school doesn’t provide for transport when the matches are held, since he is the only player from our school.
Nitin: This means that even if he wants to come back to school after a match, he must be wasting time in finding a mode of transport on the outskirts of the city.
You: Yes, I also asked him why his parents cannot help him get back to school in time. He said that his father works in another city and his mother cannot leave the house because of his old grandparents and an infant sister.
Nitin: I think we should talk to the student counselling committee in school and present his case. His is too good a player to quit sports. Our country anyway has little regard for sportsmen. We should help him.
You: I think we can help him by assisting him with studies and helping him complete the assignments on time. If only we could arrange for transport, it would have been easier for him to a great extent.
Nitin: I will talk to one of my uncles, who operates a private taxi service. Let’s see if he can do something for him.
You: That would be really nice! Nitin, thank you for having this conversation. It helped me find solutions to my friend’s problem.
Nitin: You are welcome! What are friends for after all?
