You get hurt when you kick a stone. Explain.

Expert Answer
When we kick a stone, our foot is suddenly stopped. In other words, the time in which the foot comes to rest is very small. When the time factor is small, the force on our foot (i.e. rate of change of momentum) is large and we get hurt.
