The river Kaveri is a peninsular river which rises in the Brahmagiri range of the Western Ghats and drains into the Bay of Bengal. The total length of the river is 760 km, and its main tributaries are Amravati, Hemavati, Bhavani and Kabani. The river drains the parts of the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
