Internal migration is the movement of people within the country. In internal migration, four streams of migration are identified. These are:

  • Rural to rural ( R-R)
  • Rural to urban (R-U)
  • Urban to urban (U-U)
  • Urban to rural (U-R)

People migrate to other states because of several reasons. These reasons can be broadly classified into two main categories:

  • Push factors: These factors force the people to leave their place of residence or origin like Unemployment and Lack health and education facilities
  • Pull factors: These are the factors which attract the people from different places like Better employment opportunities and Better Lifestyle
