The process of industrialisation in Britain was gradual as it stretched over a century. The industrial production for industrial markets in the 17th and the early 18th century was carried on from the households in the countryside. At this time, factory production had not yet started. It was only after various machines were invented and began to be improvised that the factory production started which eventually led to industrialisation. The first cotton industry was set up in London during 1730s but industrialisation as a process took up pace from the late 18th century onwards. The Industrial Revolution impacted the world in more than one way. It led to production of goods on a huge scale. This resulted in colonialism as now European countries began to find markets where they can sell their goods.
