You can use the following points to frame your essay. Dirt is not in our street, it's in our mind. The word dirt has various meanings. It can be viewed as the actual dirt on the streets which we neglect or add to, as well as dirt of the narrow minded thinking which we carry. The dirt on the streets and in our neighbourhood exists due to our beliefs such as 1. Maintaining cleanliness is our responsibility only within the walls of our homes. 2. Everyone adds to the garbage in the city. One more person adding to it will not make much difference. 3. We pay taxes which the government is supposed to use to maintain cleanliness in the cities. 4. The cities are dirty because either the ones being paid for the job are not doing it properly or sufficient staff is not appointed by the government. This dirt can be cleaned with a little effort. However A more serious issue is the dirt that we carry in our minds: The dirt of ignorance, superstition, self pride and superiority. A. These are the evils which we refuse to let go despite our education against it. C. These backward beliefs obstruct the progress of our society. D. For example, we believe that amassing wealth is more important than contributing to our country. E. Also, the desire to be above everyone else causes us to pose a hindrance in the progress of others. F. We live in a society where we see ourselves, our families, our religion and our cultures, etc as different and better that other’s. Only when such mindsets are changed, and we begin seeing everyone as equals will our nation truly be free. |
