Why were the Social Reformers against caste system?

- The social reformers were against the caste system because the caste system itself had done great damage to the unity of the society and the country.
- Due to caste system, the upper castes treated the lower castes very badly.
- They were not allowed to fetch water from public wells and ponds.
- They were allowed to visit temples and attend religious ceremonies in the new 921 AD.
- The lower castes were considered untouchables.
- If ever two shadows of a lower caste man fell on a higher caste man, he would be beaten to death.
- The lower caste people were forced to be welded by the weld reformers for garbage, cleaning, tanning, skinning of dead animals, etc.
- To eliminate these discriminations, the social reformers targeted caste system.
