Expert Answer
Light rays can pass through transparent substances and to some extent through transluscent substances like butter paper etc. But light rays cannot pass through opaque substances. When light passes from the substances, we are able to see other objects behind transparent substances. But as the opaque substances do not allow the light to pass through them it makes other objects behind it invisible to our eye. Newspaper is one such object made from opaque substance. Thus, we cant see through a newspaper.
