Why sky dont appear violet ?

Expert Answer
This is because the spectrum of light from the sun is not constant at all wavelengths. The sun emits more energy as blue light than as violet. The whole range of visible frequencies are scattered, from red end to violet end, but more scattering happens at the blue-violet end. Also, our eyes are more sensitive to blue light and so eyes perceive this mixture of colors as blue and hence the sky appears blue.
