CBSE Class 10 Answered
why should an ammeter and a voltmeter connected in series & parallel respectively

Expert Answer
An ammeter should be connected in series as it has very small internal resistance and if it is connected in parallel then the whole current will flow through the ammeter, which might damage it.
A voltmeter has a very heavy internal resistance thus if it is connected in parallel in a circuit it will stop the flow of current through the circuit. This will result in breaking of the circuit and the proces will stop. Thus a voltmeter is always connected in parallel.
