why magnetic force cannot be contact force

Expert Answer
Contact force is acting at the contact surface between two bodies.
Friction force is contact force , because when one object moves over other object , friction forces are acting at the contact surfaces .
Normal reaction force is contact force . When one object pushes the other object , normal reaction force is acting at contact surface.
whereas magnetic force acts on bodies even if there is no contact between magnet and other object.
Hence magnetic force is not a contact force
