Expert Answer
Democracy is not the rule of the majority. As all individuals have equal weight in electing representatives. Although many political parties proclaim a firm belief in egalitarian and equitable redistribution of income, the political class have vested interest in maintaining the inequitable status quo. As a result, government formed by such political parties tend to pay near lip service to poverty eradication and income redistrbution, where as in reality economic inequality is steadfastly maintained. This is why ultra rich enjoys a higher share of wealth and income in democracy.
