why FM signal is less susceptible to noise than an AM signal

In FM signals, the original singnals are in the form of frequency variation. Such signals do not get distributed by the noise generated y atmosphere or  man-made electrical discharge. Secondly, amlitude variation due to noise in FM signals can easily be removed prior to demodulation.
