Expert Answer
In a cell, chemical energy is converted to electrical energy. This is due to generation of ions in chemical reactions.
Workdone by these ions to reach the electrodes of the cell is electromotive force (emf) of the cell.
Due to chemical equilibrium, at constant temperature, rate of generation of ions remains constant.
Hence their workdone or emf of the cell remains constant.
