Expert Answer
- Electric field lines from a single polarity can never form a closed loop.
- As the propagation of these field lines is guided by the inverse square law. i.e
- The propagation is inversely proportional to the square of the distance of the field lines.
- Therefore, the electric field lines are propagated always radially inwards or radially outwards.
- This is the reason why they don't form a closed loop.
- However, it should be noted that the electric field lines of both the poles do form a closed loop.
