why does the beam of white light reflect in a prism? how does this happens?

any light ray when is incident on any surface, reflects back. if the medium is transparent, then a portion is refracted. alittle absorption also takes place.
in prism, due to different speed of different colour of light, dispersion also take place.
be specific, what do you want to know.
