why does [meater]squre comes in the unit of acceleration?

In the unit of acceleration, metre square does not appear. What appears is second square.
 
Acceleration is rate of change of velocity.
 
begin mathsize 12px style straight a equals dv over dt end style
Now, the unit of velocity is m/s and that of time is s.
So, the unit of acceleration will be
 
begin mathsize 12px style straight a equals fraction numerator straight m divided by straight s over denominator straight s end fraction equals fraction numerator straight m over denominator straight s cross times straight s end fraction equals straight m over straight s squared end style
