Asked by Topperlearning User | 25 Apr, 2014, 01:03: PM
Expert Answer
Lump of cotton wool has gaps of cotton fibres which are filled with air. When water replaces the air from these gaps, the cotton lump becomes heavy and shrinks due to removal of air gaps.
