induced emf E = -dφ/dt = -d/dt [ B A ] = -B dA/dt

where φ is flux of magnetic field, B magnetic flux density and A is area.

If magnetic flux density is constant,  then change in magnetoc flux area in the direction perpendicular
to motion of coil is greater for the sides AD and BC. For the sides AB and CD flux area perpendicular
to the motion of coil is negligible. If the conductor crosses perpendicularly more flux, then induced emf also more.

hence we get induced emf only in sides AD and BC
