Why do group 1 metals form weaker alkalis?

We have not understood the query that you have posted. 
 
Group 1 metals doesnot form ONLY weaker alkalis.
 

Alkali metals are the elements of Group-1 and their valence electronic configuration is ns1

Let us consider the example of sodium. In sodium, electronic configuration is ; 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1 , by losing a 3s electron the Na+ ion will attain a configuration like Neon gas(Noble gas)  1s2 2s2 2p6 .

It will require a huge energy to remove next electron from this fully filled and stable configuration.

Thus, alkali metals do not form M+2 cations.
