Although the political and religious policies pursued by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb had a role in the decline of the Mughal Empire, it continued to exist for another 150 years after his death. Therefore, Aurungzeb alone cannot be held solely responsible for the decay of the Mughal Empire.
